Alumni Spotlight - Captain Mark Matuszak

Captain Mark Matuszak (FlexJet): I graduated from CCBC in May 1978 with two degrees: Professional Piloting and Air Traffic Control. I was subsequently hired by James Johnson as an Assistant Professor and served as a classroom instructor and ATC Tower Supervisor while flight instructing and flying FAR 135 Charter at Beaver Aviation.

I left CCBC in August 1985 to fly as a Beech 99 Captain with Christman Air System based out of Washington, PA. Subsequently, I was hired by Piedmont Airlines in February 1986. I then spent 37+ years with Piedmont, US Airways, and American Airlines retiring in April 2023 at age 65 as an Airbus Captain. After retirement, I am currently an Embraer Praetor Captain with FLEXJET, an amazing FAR 135 Fractional operation.

CCBC is the best place to start an aviation career. The value of my experience can never be overstated. So many of my students from when I was an instructor at CCBC went on to be very successful pilots and air traffic controllers. From my first flying lesson on January 4, 1974, until today, I look back at what a great period of my career existed at CCBC.
